An original Templar knight in the flat, colorful style of 12th- and 13th-century manuscript and wall-painting figures. He wears a mail coif and chausses and a white surcoat and mantle with a red cross pattée, and carries a heater shield, a sheathed sword, and a lance with a small black-and-white pennon. He stands on a flowered mound beneath a red pointed arch, with no text. He isn't copied from any single source; the look takes its cue from painted figures such as the 12th-century wall paintings in the Templar chapel at Cressac. Under the Templar Rule, only knight brothers wore white mantles, a sign of purity and chastity; sergeants wore black or brown.
The shirt is the Bella+Canvas 3001: lightweight 4.2 oz. jersey in Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, with side seams, shoulder taping, and a classic unisex fit. Solid colors are 100% cotton; heather colors contain polyester. It's pre-shrunk, and a little sheer in lighter colors.
Care: machine-wash cold, inside-out, on a gentle cycle; tumble-dry low or hang-dry; don't iron the print. Printed on demand when you order.
